Headshot of Denise Mejlszenkier

For over 15 years, Denise has successfully represented her clients in pre-litigation negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, and trial.

In a recent case, Wilton v. Handwerger, Denise was on the trial team that defended the rights of an elderly Mill Valley women, who was being taken advantage of by an aggressive developer who moved next door and was intent on building a monstrosity that deteriorated the value of her property. Denise prepared the case for trial, successfully fought legal challenges to various novel claims asserted on behalf of the client in order to maximize the client’s potential recovery, subpoenaed records, took depositions, and through tenacity and attention to detail helped bring a favorable jury verdict for our client.

Denise has handled a wide-variety of cases. Her experience has included: commercial contract disputes, cases relating to real estate purchases, neighbor disputes, construction defect cases, wage hour cases, employment discrimination, discrimination in education, product liability, professional negligence, and elder abuse claims.

Denise started her career as a Circuit Prosecutor with the California District Attorneys’ Association, where she covered a circuit of 34 rural counties. Denise was primarily charged with aiding in the prosecution of matters involving the death or serious injury of workers resulting from the willful violation of OSHA standards. Her next career move was to a civil litigation firm in downtown San Rafael where she was thrown into the fire and did everything from investigating the complaint to preparing the case for trial. Denise has successfully litigated for both plaintiffs and defendants in real estate, employment, general commercial claims, and numerous other types of actions.
